We operate from our office in Barrio Dent, San Jose, coordinating reservations with trusted providers in major destinations. Every booking is confirmed directly with a local company, which handles the actual vehicle handover and rental agreement.
Our platform focuses on transparent booking conditions and flexible payment options. We work with providers who offer vehicles ranging from compact sedans for city routes to 4x4 pickups suited to gravel mountain roads leading to Monteverde or Rincon de la Vieja. Each vehicle listing shows the exact pickup location, required payment method for the balance, and applicable coverage terms.
Booking through our system follows a simple sequence. You search for a vehicle by selecting pickup and drop-off locations, dates, and any optional extras such as GPS navigation units, child seats, or additional driver registration. Results display vehicles available from local providers in that area, with clear terms for each option.
Once you choose a vehicle, you pay a booking advance online by card to confirm the reservation. This advance is part of the total rental cost, not a separate fee. The remaining balance is paid when you collect the vehicle, using the payment method specified in your booking confirmation - this depends on the particular vehicle and provider, not on vehicle class.
After payment, you receive a voucher containing the rental company's contact details, pickup instructions, and your reservation reference. At the agreed time, you go to the designated location - either a counter at SJO Juan Santamaria International Airport, a downtown office, or a delivery point at your accommodation. The rental agreement is signed there, and any existing vehicle damage is recorded in that contract before you drive away.
We arrange bookings in four main locations across Costa Rica. San Jose serves as the primary hub, with providers near the city centre and at Juan Santamaria International Airport, 17 km north-west via Autopista General Canas. Liberia in Guanacaste province offers access to northern Pacific beaches and Rincon de la Vieja National Park, approximately 215 km from San Jose.
Uvita on the southern Pacific coast provides a starting point for routes to Corcovado and Osa Peninsula, roughly 195 km from the capital. Alajuela sits close to the international airport and forms a gateway to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, about 135 km north. Each location has local rental companies that manage vehicle handover and support during your rental period.
Traditional rental arrangements require a hold on your credit card as security against damage. Many providers in our network operate without this deposit requirement, meaning no funds are blocked on your card when you collect the vehicle. This policy is independent of the damage liability waiver or coverage options you select.
If you choose a vehicle with no deposit terms, you still have a damage liability limit - this is the maximum amount you would pay out of pocket if the vehicle is damaged or stolen. The absence of a deposit simply means your card is not frozen during the rental. For travellers using debit cards or those with limited card balances, this removes a common barrier. We recommend checking your card's available balance before pickup to ensure it meets the requirements listed in your voucher.
